May 2009

The month of May was mostly a disaster for me but we did have some fun times too. I tried walking and took some photos of our River and some of the birds but that knee was still painful.

The knee never got any better so I took the hardest decision I have made in a very long time and cancelled the Spanish trip.

The tree that the Electric company threatened to charge me for cutting, is still there today, complete with pink ribbon, but I did get it in writing from the council halfway through the month that it was not my problem!!!

There is some possibility that I might get some insurance pay out on the air flight ticket! Only time will tell!

Our singing group who used to call ourselves Uslot met for lunch on one day before Maisie left me chuckle!

Anyway Maisie did get her trip away and enjoyed it very much. She played bowls for a week and you can read how well she did too on the web page.
John and Sil
via and the children came up for the weekend and stayed here. The Children love the piano. ;) I slept in the Transit to give them more room in the house chuckle.

On their return to Denmark W.A, I being left alone again to twiddle my thumbs, set to work on the Ford Transit van camper conversion that I had started when we first acquired it. I worked hard all week and almost completed the cupboards across the back and down the sliding door side and built a partition across behind the front seats. This allowed me to make a table that clips out from this and is fixed so you can sit on the bench come bed and use it, it is held in place by one thumbscrew only. I had bought a wood grained lounge cabinet and this was dismantled to use as doors, table and work tops. I was still busy working on making the toilet cabinet for the Porta Potty when Maisie got home on the Thursday morning. I got it fixed, now all would have to stop as we were going to use the van to go to Denmark again.

We threw what we thought we would need in it and set off Friday morning.
Josie came with us and we arrived late

afternoon.

The weekend was made up of running from music shows, band performances and work shops where we took a couple of crash courses on singing and writing songs! All was great fun.

We had to say good bye to Josie as she went home first with some of her band friends as they have a performance this weekend and had to be back to practice on the Monday evening.

We found a little time to walk to Ocean Beach and go to the aptly named Waterfall Beach, which the children loved and all managed to get pretty wet even though the water was very cold then lunch at a little cheese factory in the hills.

The weather was cool and rainy and very cold at night, I learnt we need to insulate the van a bit more!

That seagull looks cold
