May 2012

May 2012

Hi again friends Peregrinos and relies
A very busy month of May has left me quite worn out chuckle
The big problem for me has been the sudden falling apart of me body chuckle! Well my knee got so bad I had to give up walking the long river walk by the end of the month, and no Spanish trip this year but I go tomorrow for x-rays so hope for good news and will keep trying to get out there! The weather has also got colder and damp and that is probably not helping.
Anyway enough of that, lets see what photos we have for you.
The Banksia flowers came out at the beginning of the month and I took a few of those. They seem to be suffering here and the Banksia trees are dying faster than new seeds can replace them, some say the lack of water this year leaves them weak and open to other disease!

The addition of a toilet right in the middle of the bush appeared one day. I thought it quite funny and was surprised to see some clown has used it too one night! Terrible what people dump in beautiful countryside!

Maisie and I walked a bit past the bridge one weekend and saw the dolphins return after a long absence. Unfortunately I only got to photo the splash as one dived chuckle.

A large flock  of pink and grey galas kept me amused one day and I took some quite good photos as they strut about like little old men chuckle!

The new painting of the mother in yellow feeding her child was finished and signed, hope you like it. but I haven't started painting anything else this month!

Maisie had a good month with bowls and just missed out on getting prizes in the club competitions except in the ladies fours. As she had never been in a team that had won this prize so she was very pleased and we had a nice evening when the four of them collected the prize money!

Mothers day we went to Mat and Aveni's and had a nice party Maisie has put up the photos of the Mums on her blog!

The river was very high after some of the heavy rains and high tides and I took a few photos there and when I met my daughter Josie at the bridge on her bike.

Josie uses her bike a lot these days as do all her family now. The cars are only used when it's not practicable to peddle chuckle, they all are getting very fit and saving the planet!
Josie and the girls have won a number of prises with their art. I will see if I have photos of some next month.

Denmark

Next we took time out to drive to Denmark to see how the new house is and catch up with John, Silvia and the grandchildren.
Had a nice walk up the river bank there a couple of times,

Also a photo of the big town of Denmark's  main street chuckle.
We took Benjamin to the park one day

We also walked by the river to the estuary and my leg was good so we walked a little way by that before turning back to town.

The Kangaroos visit Johns garden every day and I took a little video (on Maisies) blog and lots of photos of them, as yet they are a little shy but will stay eating grass quite close!

Their habitat is shrinking here as the houses are built on the grass land, they sleep in the forest and come out to eat mornings and evenings but here they know they are safe and can be seen a lot during the day too.

Silvia went up to Perth with a friend for a break over the last weekend and this left us with the children a bit more, but being grandparents we loved this of course.

This weekend was the festival of voice and we looked after the children while John helped with the shows, but we got to see two free ones that were very good! In one the guy borrowed Emils (my grandson's) ukulele to play on stage and he gave him a disc of them singing afterwards which I thought was nice! The children loved this show, see the videos on Maisies blog!

Emil and Maya sang on the stage in the Steiner school choir and Emil played his ukulele with their school group.

Edith, Silvia's sister, who used to sing with us USLOT when she lived near us, was in one choir and we managed to catch up and see her sing. She has a lovely soprano voice and we still miss her in our little Monday singing group!

We next went out with John in his car to the beach at Lowlands Bay, a new bay we had not seen before and they went swimming.

The sea was rough but beautiful and I took a lot of photos here. Maisie will put up mostly those with people in, but these I thought made good photos.

and the old fisherman's face rock!

We had to be back by 12pm because Emil was booked to help with the busking outside the supermarket to collect money to help pay for new ukuleles for the school children to use and learn to play. They did well and should be able to buy several new instruments. See Maisie's blog

Time was running out and I see now the only photo I took of the new house was a night time shot with a hand held camera tut tut, and then it was time to return home.

We said our goodbyes with Emil break dancing backwards and nearly falling down a bank into the

mud outside the garage (see Maisies blog) chuckle.

We now headed back stopping at Tambellup an almost ghost town now, like a number of outback towns that grew up by the railways! They struggle now to survive and attract tourists.

Well its June now, but we have included the weekend and our return journey so have a good June month and hope those over there have a warm summer and I'm hoping we down here have a good winter
God bless till next time
Mike and Maisie xxxx
