October 2010

Hi dear friends Peregrinos and rellies
October was a hectic month to be sure! Last month we came back from Denmark in a truck and the Van on the back if you remember! Jeff my friendly mechanic was very busy but in the end he found the time to come and look. He had not come across this problem on a Ford so he asked his contacts about the problem and was told he needed an 18 mm tube spanner to tighten it and if it was just this, the job could be done in a few minutes. To think I had trucked the van all this way just because I never had a 18mm spanner! Well when Jeff came over to do it he found this size was not right, but to our surprise an old plug spanner that I had in the old 1929 Chev fitted and sure enough the motor ran perfectly as soon as Jeff tightened the injector and put the pipes back on!!!
My Birthday was stretched out over 3 days and we had too much to eat and drink of course! I did manage to keep walking most mornings and took some photos of the wild life and river.

There was a council collection of rubbish so people could dump things out they didn't want and I collected a canoe for the effort of dragging it home! I next collected a pram from the verge and cut it up to make a trolley to take the canoe to the river. I have been cleaning it and rubbing it down to paint to make it look nice .

As soon as the trolley was finished I got Maisie to come with me to the river and try the thing in the water! I put on a life jacket and wedged my self in the tiny cockpit and pushed off. I got in a couple of paddle strokes, then tried to fend myself off a tree and it turned upside down!!

Getting out of a canoe as narrow as this one is quite difficult upright, upside down its even harder! I still haven't finished painting it yet, but will. I am still looking for some one to show me how to keep it the right way up in the water!!!!!

At long last I posted a portrait of a dear friend to her and it made my day to hear she was thrilled to receive it and is having it framed. Josie has been on to me to get back into my painting again as she has been so successful in different shows.

In between birthdays, eating and drinking, I did finish the oil painting of Oviedo, which I started before I went to walk my Mozarabe Camino.

I am pleased how it looks and have put it here for you to see!!! I went back to that very place again, but no wedding on this time chuckle, but I did see the pipers play another day. I still haven't got that far in my Mozarabe blog as yet and may never write up all that happened but hope at least to show some photos soon of what happened after I gave up walking the Mozarabe.
Lizzies birthday came and more food and drink and a great time down the farm as we call it! John came up to Perth and stayed for Maisie's birthday and took us to Freo to a Tapas restaurant and I am getting so fat I will soon have problems fitting in that canoe cockpit!!!

Keep well and safe
Here is one place I went to in Spain. Where is it and who built it?

That's big hugs in Spanish
Michael and Maisie
